Professional high end drumming instructor with over 20 years teaching experience. Mark has been teaching here at Mission Music Lessons since we opened in 2012. Well versed in Rock, Metal, Funk, Jazz/Blues, Odd Meter and Rudimental styles. Mark has studied with James Badger of Full Circle/Electric City Music and Gary Grace of Graces Notes Drum School who also plays with Rock Band Prism. Mark has taught in the Port Coquitlam, Pitt Meadows, Maple Ridge, Mission and Abbotsford areas for over 20 years. Mark has also released three Original Rock recording CDs with Hard Rock band Nomadic Sanctuary. Mark teaches with acoustic, electronic drums and hand drums (xylophone, djembes, bongos, congas and auxiliary percussion). Marks knowledge of drum notation, rudiments, music note reading and transcribing will help students with school bands such as concert bands, jazz bands and rock bands. Mark teaches students of all levels including adults ages 3+ in a very friendly and relaxed environment. Mark puts many of his drum/percussion students into groups (such as Jr. Drum Lines, Drum Lines & Sr. Drum Lines as well as private student bands) to perform at all our student recitals. Mark also teaches our Rock Band programs with Corey.
Roger Saltel Guitar & Bass
Roger has been teaching guitar for over 40 years and has been teaching here at Mission Music Lessons since we opened in 2012. His teaching style draws from decades of playing professionally in Rock, Country and Top 40 bands and attending Capilano College studying commercial and jazz music. So whether you are a beginner or an advanced player who wants to expand your knowledge of the Guitar he can help. Do you sing and play? Roger can help you develop your repertoire to bring the best out of our voice and guitar. Roger takes students of all levels (including advanced) ages 10+ including adults. It’s not who you know it’s what you know and he knows the guitar inside and out! Come and learn with Roger in a fun relaxed atmosphere. Roger is currently doing online lessons only (ages 10+) and has very flexible lesson times and days.
Voice & Harp
Miss Jenn has been singing and performing music since she was three years old. Miss Jenn was given early admittance into the Douglas College Children’s Choir by Choral Director Diane Loomer. She has performed and studied under a variety of musicians – including: Stephen Horning, Marissa Gitan, and Lindsay Lindquest. Miss Jenn added the Oboe and Bassoon to her musical skills as a teen, performing in both large and small ensembles. As a vocal student at Kwantlen University College, Miss Jenn found Music History especially helpful in her studies of Celtic and Gaelic music. It was through her Celtic studies that she was introduced to the “Clarsach” (small scottish Harp) which became the perfect accompaniment for her voice. Under the instruction and mentorship of Rebecca Blair, and Alys Howe, as well as various workshops with Harper Tasche and Seamas Gagne, a whole new world of harp and voice was realized. Miss Jenn has studied Gaelic music and culture in Scotland and the Isle of Skye as well as studying the history of the music in the Hebridean Islands. Miss Jenn was a winner of the Northwest Region Scottish harping Competition in Skagit Valley, Washington. Miss Jenn has over 15 years of teaching experience and has been teaching here at Mission Music Lessons since we opened in 2012. She teaches a wide range of styles including Classical, Jazz, Improvisation, Musical Theatre, Rock, Pop & Heavy Metal as well as teaching our very popular Retro (Adult) Glee, Glee & Jr. Glee Classes. Miss Jenn takes students ages 8+ including adults and encourages all her students to perform at all our student recitals as well as many other public events.
Guitar & Theory
Paul has been involved in music for over 30 years. As a student, he began studying guitar at the age of eight. He graduated from the Professional Audio Engineering program and Music Industry Training program at Columbia Academy in Vancouver, and most recently has studied Classical Guitar under Michael Strut at Douglas College in New Westminster. His experience with the music industry has involved work as an engineer and arranger with several local bands, over a decade of teaching guitar and performances on local television. As a student, you will be instructed in how to play the guitar, but also gain knowledge of music theory, composition, ear training and how to read and write musical notation. Through his personal experience of the music industry, knowledge of music history and all facets of music you will receive vital insight into music studies and highly individualised lessons in a supportive and constructive environment. Paul takes students ages 6+ and takes great pride in having all his students perform in recitals. Paul has been teaching for us here at Mission Music Lessons since we opened in 2012. Paul is currently doing online lessons only (ages 10+) and has very flexible lesson times and days.
Guitar & Bass
Corey Has been playing music for well over 15 years. He played in a concert band where he learned music theory and bass guitar. He has also been in several bands over the years including our very own Mission Music Lessons teacher band. Recently Corey has began expanding his musical abilities to drums, music theory and other band instruments as well as recording software. Corey specializes in rock music, but also teaches any style of music from country to blues. Corey enjoys teaching and spreading his love of music. Corey takes students ages 7+. Corey has been teaching here at Mission Music Lessons since we opened in 2012 and teaches our Rock Band programs with Mark. Come learn with Corey in a very relaxed and friendly environment.
Miss Jaclyn’s passion for the violin began at the age of nine. Throughout the years Miss Jaclyn has played in many local orchestras. She enjoys both classical and fiddle styles of playing and has had the privilege of performing for her local parish during many special events. Miss Jaclyn has enjoyed providing private violin lessons for over 10 years in the Abbotsford/Mission area and started teaching here at Mission Music Lessons in 2013. She teaches both the RCM and the Suzuki methods of violin. She achieved first class honours in her grade eight RCM violin exam (highest level for violin). Her primary goal in teaching, is to pass her passion for both the violin and music in general onto her students and to always make sure that they are having as much fun as she is. While she is currently working on her Bachelor of Science at UFV, she is committed to sharing her enthusiasm for the violin with students of all ages and loves to have them perform in all our student recitals. Miss Jaclyn takes students ages 6+.
Miss Erin started playing piano at age 9, by her third year she was already finishing her grade 4 RCM. Miss Erin has her grade 10 RCM with honours and has completed her pedagogy course with honours with distinction and has now become a licensed RCM teacher up to grade 8, she loves teaching music because she is so passionate about it. Miss Erin started teaching here at Mission Music Lessons in 2014 and enjoys teaching students ages 7+ including adults. Miss Erin takes the time to make sure her students learn a combination of theory, technique & performance pieces and enjoys having them perform at recitals. In her free time you can find Miss Erin volunteering as a brownie leader with Girl Guides of Canada.
Piano, Violin, Bass & Ukulele
Miss Sarah has been playing music for almost 15 years. She started with piano then added bass, violin, drums, ukulele and guitar. Miss Sarah has never met and instrument she did not want to learn to play. Her most recent Royal Conservatory Of Music (RCM) exams include marks of First Class Honours with Distinction. Miss Sarah started teaching here at Mission Music Lessons in 2015 and has fully completed her Elementary Music Teacher Certification and is certified to teach the RCM program and prepare students for RCM exams in both piano or/and violin. While traveling to Nova Scotia in 2017 Miss Sarah has taken workshops in Piano Accompaniment & Fiddle at the Nova Scotia Gaelic College. Miss Sarah loves to share her love of music with all her students and takes great pride in having them perform at our student recitals. She currently takes students 4-16 years of age and has a valid Red Cross first aid certificate. In her free time you can find Miss Sarah dancing with the local Scottish Dancers.
Guitar, Bass, Ukulele & Metal Vocals
Mark has been playing music for over 20 years. He plays guitar, bass, ukulele as well as a little piano and drums he is also a heavy metal singer. Mark teaches all genres and styles of music, he has taken music introduction and computer studies at UFV and has mastered adobe audition and sony musix. Mark enjoys writting and recording his own work and helping his students learn these techniques as well. Mark started teaching here at Mission Music Lessons in 2018 and is such a great addition to our team, he has quickly become very popular here! Mark has played in many bands over the years and is very easy to work with and it’s easy to see his love for music. Mark provides a very relaxed and encouraging environment and takes students ages 6+ including adults. In his free time you can find Mark working as a Behavioural Interventionist for kids with Autism.
Miss Liz has been teaching here at Mission Music Lessons since early 2018, she teaches the Royal Conservatory Of Music (RCM) program and has her Elementary Teacher Certification. Miss Liz teaches students and adults ages 6+ and loves having them perform in our student recitals. Currently Miss Liz only teaches as a regular sub here at Mission Music Lessons until her schedule opens up.
Voice, Ukulele & LM Piano
Miss Baylee has been involved in many types of music since she was only a toddler, her love of music has never changed. Miss Baylee started teaching here at Mission Music Lessons in 2017 and always helps out with our many group programs and all our current students absolutely love her. One of Miss Baylee’s specialties is working with students who currently are or would like to work with a live band, she teaches them how to adjust to key changes, band adjustments, microphone control and music counting…..all very important to working in a band setting. Miss Baylee teaches voice, ukulele and the Little Mozart’s (ages 4-8) beginner piano course. Miss Baylee can also combine her lessons with a half a lesson of LM (Little Mozart’s) piano and a half lesson of singing (this is very popular with the little ones as they can do 15 mins piano and 15 mins of singing). She teaches students from 4-16 years of age. One of Miss Baylee’s greatest joys is having her students perform and she is always happy to perfom with them. Come learn with Miss Baylee in a very friendly and relaxed environment.

Daniel has studied music for over 6 years and has quickly excelled at Drums, Guitar, and Bass. Daniel’s love for music shows in his talent for playing. Daniel started teaching here at Mission Music Lessons in 2019 and our students just adore him. Daniel has taught many recital bands while also assisting with drum lines at our recitals for the past few years. Daniel enjoys all genres of music and plays in many bands (playing Guitar, Bass & Drums). Daniel is extremely dedicated to his students and is more than willing to learn and teach any song/style of music and always enjoys giving his students the opportunity to perform in our recital bands and drum lines. He also has a valid Red Cross first aid certificate. Daniel currently takes students ages 6-14 and teaches in a very encouraging and relaxed environment. In his free time you can find Daniel learning/studying for his own RCM (Royal Conservatory of Music) exams.
Miss Serena has been teaching here at Mission Music Lessons since early 2020 and has her grade 8 RCM with marks of First Class Honours. Miss Serena teaches students ages 4-12 and loves having them perform in our student recitals. Miss Serena is a wonderful role model for young students as she is such sweet young lady who also plays keyboard with our very own Rock Band class and saxophone in both concert and jazz band. Come learn with Miss Serena in a very fun and encouraging environment.
Piano, Saxophone & Clarinet
Miss Sydney provides a welcoming environment for her students to learn and grow. She feels it is essential for learning to take place in an environment so that students are not only able to express themselves, but are free to make any mistakes or errors along the way. She specialize in RCM piano, specifically in the practical and theoretical components. She have received her Advanced Theory (Harmony, History, and Rudiments), a Bachelors Degree from Simon Fraser University in Music Composition and a minor in History. Miss Sydney was accepted on the spot at Capilano University for her Diploma in Music, Major in Piano and Saxophone. She has many other certifications including: AIDT Gold Lower Tap Examination, Elementary RCM Teacher Certification, Intermediate RCM Teacher Certification, Standard First Aid, Bronze Cross, Bronze Medallion, WSI, Life Guard Candidate, and Lifeguard Saving Instructor. Miss Sydney encourages her student’s interests and provides her students with multiple means of demonstrating their education through different learning perspectives. She specifically focuses on technique, sight-reading, and ear training as well as their repertoire and etudes. Miss Sydney provides tools for them to to excel, feel confident that they can do anything, and feels strongly that they can achieve a wonderful magnificent thing. She takes students ages 4+ including adults.
